1.       while walking the dog, you were careless and it got loose and was hit by a car.

此句中while walking the dog 相当于 while(you were) walking the dog,when, while, if, unless, until等引导的状语从句的主语与主句的主语相同,并且从句中的谓语含有be 时,可将从句中的主语和be省略。
